Anti-Valentine's Guide: Sweetly Demented Chocolate

For romantics of taste from a sexier, darker sensibility, bland bonbons from Godiva will not do this Valentine's Day.  Whether you want to send a deviant message of lust or hate, do it with good quality chocolate, but in a more morbid form....

Sweetly Demented is an online chocolatier from the deranged hands of Sivonne.  With a background in sculpture, art and photography, she brought her artistic skills to the French Culinary institute for work in chocolate.

She claims to have "watched too much Tim Burton as a kid" and is inspired by the natural surroundings of her Pennsylvania home.  She hand-created candy molds from actual deer antlers,hawk skulls, clay sculptures or paintings.  Sweetly Demented creations use a mix of Peter's Chocolate, edible luster dusts, fine flavoring oils and toffee.

I had the privileged of receiving these confectionery masterpieces, and the shimmering, detailed chocolate looks terrific.  I love the dark humor of this collection, and who doesn't love chocolate?

Anti-Valentine's Guide: Endless Night Vampire Ball in NYC

Let the sentimental fools make their little dinner plans.  Those who want real fun are rejecting the commercial Valentine's Day and partying in Downtown NYC at the Endless Night Vampire Ball on Saturday, February 12, 2011.

  There will be performances by the darkly glamorous Libertina Dance Company, ruby red lip makeovers, serenades by the Baron, the vampire lounge singer.  The organizers are famous for their Halloween parties, ranked #1 in the world by TripAdvisor.

It should be sexy...The site describes it as a "masque ball theme touched off with a Belle Epoch salon noir from the esoteric renaissance of 1890s France. "   Lovely!

Anti-Valentine's Guide: Blood Manor's Valentine Weekend

It might not be fair to call this one anti-Valentine. For many of you, a tour through 5000 square feet of themed, horror filled rooms in a first class haunted house is the perfect date. Blood Manor has been one of NYC's top haunted attractions for the past few years.
On Friday, February 12th, 2010, the event will pay special tribute to the movie opening of "Wolfman" with giveaways, movie passes, and other surprises. Saturday will include special Valentine's gift as well.
Admission is $25 normally, but if you go through the Madame's guest list, buy tickets half off!
